Updated September 2018 - Wanderlust Cafe has now ceased trading.

As a mum with a toddler and a baby who can do a better bear crawl than most gym junkies, there’s nothing that makes me ‘happy dance’ more than a café with a play area. Yippee!

Wonderlust Café in Seville Grove not only has a kids’ play area, but it also has a drive thru for coffee – what a bonus! So you can either stop in and let the kids have a play while you have a coffee, or get your coffee and go without even getting out of the car. Did I say ‘ yippee!?’

This café might be small, but it manages to fit an indoor dining area and alfresco area into the limited space. The children’s play area is located outside, and there is a play tent and a box filled with toys and books.

You can enjoy breakfast, brunch or lunch, or choose from the cabinet full of fresh sandwiches, muffins and slices. The menu has lots of options, including full cooked breakfasts, bacon and eggs, pancakes and even breakfast salads and Banoffee French toast. For lunch, you can choose the Buddah Burrito bowl, burgers and salads. There is a specials menu and a kids menu, which has choices of pancakes, a kids’ sized breakfast and fish fingers and chips.

For my toddler and I (the bear crawler was asleep for a change) I chose corn and zucchini pancakes with bacon from the specials menu, and pancakes for the little miss, plus a cappuccino and a babyccino.

Brunch was soon served, along with our coffees and we tucked in. The kids’ pancakes are served with ice cream and were light and fluffy and simply delicious.

The corn and zucchini pancakes were something very different for me - I usually stick to eggs or toast, but these sounded too good to pass up. They came with a choice of bacon, avocado or salmon. Can’t really pass up bacon!

They were super tasty and didn’t last too long on my plate - corn and zucchini is a delightful combination and went down so well with the bacon. Yum! The coffee was just as delicious.

My daughter had a play while I picked at her pancakes. And I wonder why I can’t lose the last few kilos of my baby weight. Meh.

Wonderlust Cafe is a fantastic option for coffee loving parents, along with foodies and those who just don’t want to get out of the car for coffee.
