Why Pole Fitness is All the Rage

Before I had my sons, one thing I did with all my spare time was go to the gym. However, since they were born I have really struggled to find the time to exercise and the motivation make it worthwhile.
Who wants to do the same monotonous gym activities when they haven't had much sleep, anyway?
When a Pole Fitness studio opened near me, I decided to see what all the fuss was about. I don't really know what I expected, but what I got was a fantastic full body workout. My core, my upper arms, my back, my legs. The women were supportive and encouraging and I quickly became addicted.
As the weeks progressed, I began to realise I could do things I never thought were possible, from holding my body weight for an extended period of time, to a simple spin and I have just started going upside down. Pole fitness has drastically improved my strength, my flexibility and most importantly my
confidence.
Essential Information
Anyone can ‘pole.’ Any age, any body type. You don’t need upper arm strength either, just a determination to try something new. You get introduced to things very gradually, so you can learn the basics and strengthen those shoulder and back muscles.
The less clothing the better. So leave the ¾ tights at home, shorts and singlets are best, skin grips and material slips.
Do not use any moisturiser or creams before your first class, you will slide right off.
You may bruise after your first class, they are known as ‘pole kisses’ and every week you will have less and less.
I love my weekly pole fitness and it’s an excellent ‘mummy time out’ so if you are thinking about trying pole, search for a class nearby and give it a go! You might just love it.
