A small adventure playground with plenty to keep the kids entertained.
Whitby is a small suburb not too far past Byford. I actually hadn’t heard of it or been there until I discovered a cool little adventure playground there with my two little girls.
The playground is located right across the road from a housing estate, making it the ideal place to walk over to with the kids. But if you have to drive everywhere like us, there is plenty of parking along the street.
The park has bike, walking or scooter paths, so it is great for learning to ride a bike or scooter, or just for taking a walk through.
The playground doesn’t feature a lot of traditional-style climbing frames or play equipment, but rather nature and sensory based play, such as a huge, artificial hill with rope play and a big slide down the other side.
There is a digger in the sand play area, plus a birds nest swing and a smaller slide for younger children, a set of swings and tunnels for the kids to climb through or on top of.
The park has a small water play area, but when we visited it wasn’t working and looked like it needed a bit of TLC.
The park has plenty of grassy areas to sit and have a picnic, and much of this space has lots of shade for the warmer days. There is also a picnic table with shade.
is best suited to younger children and is worth a visit if you are in Byford or visiting the surrounding areas.
