Melville is home to some awesome child-friendly cafes!

Melville is a city in Perth’s south that is located along the banks of the Swan River and with lots of opportunity to hit the shops at Garden City and in Myaree’s retail precinct. It’s also a city that has lots of options for child-friendly coffee. Here are some of the best child-friendly cafes in Melville.

Little Olive Leaf Café, Willagee
7 Archibald Street, Willagee
Cafe open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea daily

Little Olive Leaf Café in Willagee is a double whammy of child-friendliness – not only does it have a great kids play area at the back of the café, surrounded by natural shade, but it is also directly opposite Carawatha Park, which has a playground. So even if the café is busy, you can order to go and let the kids run wild in the park. You can read more here .

2 Greenfingers, Willagee
96 Bawden Street, Willagee
Open for breakfast and lunch daily

2 Greenfingers serves a huge variety of raw and vegan food, along with great coffee in a child-friendly environment. There’s toys to keep the kids amused, and after you’ve enjoyed a hot beverage, breakfast or brunch, you can head over to Webber Reserve, which is right across the road and has a little nature playground for the kids. You can read more about the café and playground here .

Blue Water Grill, Heathcote Reserve, Applecross
58 Duncraig Road, Applecross
Restaurant and kiosk open for breakfast and lunch daily

Heathcote Reserve is the home of one of the best playgrounds in Perth – the huge pirate ship playground overlooking the Swan River. The Blue Water Grill has both a formal dining area, but also a takeaway kiosk and café area just next to the toddlers’ play area.

Down The Garden Path, Myaree
65 Norma Road, Myaree
Open for coffee and snacks Tuesday to Sunday

Down The Garden Path is a child-friendly nursery that is also home to a café with a fenced play area. It’s a great spot to combine outdoor shopping and a coffee break while you have the kids with you.

Walter’s Café, Point Walter, Bicton
Honor Avenue, Bicton
Cafe and kiosk open for breakfast and lunch daily

An all-time favourite of mine, Point Walter is the site of one of the most child-friendly cafes around, with Walter’s River Café and its adjoining takeaway kiosk. Point Walter has lots of shallow areas for the kids to swim, plus two playgrounds and heaps of space to run around. For more information, read on at the Perth Mums Group website .

Melville is a top spot for child-friendly cafes. If you’ve got a café we haven’t listed in this article, feel free to leave a comment and we’ll add it on – after all, every parent should know where the top spots to take the kids are in your local community.
