South Perth is well known for its beautiful foreshore and for being the home of the gorgeous Perth Zoo. But what you may not know is that South Perth also boasts a few child-friendly cafes – whether they have a kids play area or are close to a playground, here’s where they are and why they are great for parents and kids.

Sprolo
138 Canning Highway, South Perth
Open for breakfast and lunch daily

Sprolo not only serves great coffee, but it has one of the best indoor play spaces for kids, including a big chalkboard and lots of toys. It’s not a massive café or kids’ space, so if you can snare a table close to the play area, it makes for a great coffee break with your children.

Secret Garden Café
64 Angelo Street, South Perth
Open for breakfast and lunch daily

The Secret Garden is sure to be a big hit with kids who love to explore – it doesn’t look very big from the outside, but at the back is a huge garden area with undercover seating and access to the garden centre next door. The garden centre has a number of caged birds and quirky plants, while the café itself serves a huge array of food that is

The Boatshed Cafe
Coode Street, South Perth
Cafe open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea daily

The Boatshed Café is located on the gorgeous South Perth Foreshore but one of its best drawcards is the children’s ‘cubby house’ outside the café. Being along the foreshore, it is also prime location for the kids to have a run around or kick a footy about after breakfast or lunch. You can read more at the Website .

Mister Walker
Mends Street Jetty, South Perth
Open for breakfast and lunch daily

Mister Walker is conveniently located right next to a lovely little playground along the South Perth foreshore. Although you can sit inside, it also has a takeaway kiosk in case you want to grab a coffee and head to the playground.

As an added bonus, both Mister Walker and The Boatshed Café are also great for a lovely walk with the pram. For more great pram walks south of the river, read on here .

The Little Banksia
78 Banksia Terrace, Kensington
Open for breakfast and lunch daily

The Little Banksia has a separate room with a kids’ play space and is clearly popular with parents. The room itself is largely taken up by a six-seater table, which is unfortunate as it limits the amount of space for the kids’ toys, but toddlers will no doubt enjoy rummaging through the toy basket or reading at the little table. You can reserve the room but it isn’t closed off so there is no reason other kids can’t roam in and out and have a play.

Mums of Perth – you deserve a good coffee. Pack up the kids and head to one of these awesome child-friendly venues for a break and just maybe, five minutes of peace.
