It’s no secret that parents need a break every now and again. Five minutes to enjoy a hot cup of coffee isn’t too much to ask, is it? Thankfully, there are so many cafes in Perth who have catered to the needs to parents and created truly family-friendly environments. We’ve been taking a look at the best child-friendly cafes in and around Perth, and here’s the top places in the Eastern Suburbs.

Tomato Lake, Kewdale

Who knew there was a gorgeous lake in the heart of Kewdale, one of Perth’s most industrial suburbs? Tomato Lake has walking paths stretching around the water, plus a playground and is home to Tomato Lake Café, a small café and kiosk. They serve a range of small meals for breakfast and lunch, plus coffee, sweet treats and ice creams.

Fika on Brix is conveniently located right next to the Mills Park Nature Play Space in Beckenham. The playground has heaps of nature-based play activities for climbing, balancing and exploring – oh, and the café’s pretty good too. They serve excellent coffee, small meals and snacks and delicious muffins – perfect for a pit stop before you hit the playground. You can read the full review here .

Canning River Café not only has a playground located just a stone’s throw away, but it is also located close to the Castledare Miniature Railway , which is a firm favourite for children. The café itself is largely gluten free, with a generous number of options across the breakfast and lunch menus. They also have a children’s menu and are dog friendly too!
