Today, my hunt for toddler-friendly coffee took me to The Surfing Lizard Espresso Bar, near Coogee Beach. This little gem is tucked away and surrounded by trees, next to the Coogee Beach Surf Lifesaving Club.



The Surfing Lizard boasts a large outdoor seating area and offers casual dining including breakfast, lunch and a selection of sandwiches and cakes in the display fridge, ranging between $5-$25. Most food items have a gluten free option, and there is a great variety whether you’re looking for something light and healthy, or something with a bit more guts… I mean, who doesn’t love bacon and sausages?

There is a small kid’s menu, and my two were in heaven when they saw their ham and cheese toasties arrive in no time at all with a side of fries.



What made my coffee toddler-friendly was the large number of high chairs, and the comfy nook with books, toys and cushions to entertain the little ones. Being so far apart from the next table of diners meant my two could be as noisy as they pleased.

Tthere is plenty of room to park multiple prams without disturbing other patrons. The staff were very friendly and accommodating when they saw me with the two boys.



You should have no issues finding parking, as there is plenty of space in the carpark next door. The nearest change table facilities are downstairs, a short walk from the café.

The Surfing Lizard is a 5 minute walk from Woodman’s Point, so you can grab a takeaway coffee and snack and head to the beach on a hot Summer’s day or alternatively sit down under the shade next to the Pirate Ship Playground right next door which my two loved.



The highlight of this one for me was that the coffee was fantastic. Nothing like a good cappuccino at a place which is very toddler friendly to make your day that little bit easier when you’re a busy mum.

So if you are down near Fremantle or Coogee with the kids, I definitely recommend giving The Surfing Lizard Espresso Bar a go, with its delicious food, fantastic coffee and excellent service, just a short walk from the beach.
