A cute little playground with a separate area for the younger children.
The Ridge Park and Playground is a fun little play space in Byford that has a large focus on nature plus a separate area for toddlers.
Located just off South Western Highway in Byford, my children and I paid a visit on a sunny day. There are two playgrounds – one located on Clondyke Drive, and the other a short walk away on Military Pass.
The centrepiece of the larger, nature based playground is a timber fort that the kids can climb via a ladder or via the climbing wall, which has some very cute little rock climbing holds. The ladder can be a bit hard for younger children to get up and down, so be sure to keep an eye on them.
The nature park has a couple of stone slides, a birds nest swing and a separate swing set.
Another highlight of the playground is the double flying fox, which has an all-abilities harness swing. There is plenty of nature play in the bush surrounds, including log steps.
You can have a family picnic or barbeque at the park, which has an undercover picnic area and public barbeque facilities. There is also a water fountain.
The toddler park is only a short walk away from the bigger playground. If you follow the asphalt path past the birds’ best swing, you will see the smaller park in the distance.
This smaller park also has a birds’ nest swing, plus a couple of bits of small, train-themed play equipment that the younger children will love!
This little park also has a small climbing frame, plus picnic tables. There are a few tunnels for the kids to crawl through and explore.
There are no barbeques in this area, and unfortunately no toilets. The nearest are located at the nearby Byford Market Place shopping centre on Abernathy Road, or at the nearby Hungry Jacks on South Western Highway.
The Ridge Park and Playground is a great nature playground for a play if you are in the Byford area, and there is plenty to keep the kids amused for a morning or an afternoon.
