The Margaret River Chocolate Company is a well-known institution in Western Australia. It opened the doors of its first factory in Margaret River in 1999 and a second factory in the Swan Valley in the year 2000.

It also has a store in the city of Perth. Its factories in Margaret River and the Swan Valley have become popular tourist destinations. If you cannot make the long drive to Margaret River to see its original factory, then I recommend that you go and visit its Swan Valley store.

It is only 20 minutes from the Perth CBD and surrounded by wineries and farms. It is free to enter and hosts a huge selection of treats including hard candies, ice cream, cake plus every sort of tasty chocolate treat you could think of, not to mention the enormous bowls of free chocolate samples to try.



The factory receives a lot of visits from tourists on tours of the Swan Valley so there is a wide selection of souvenirs to purchase. You can pick from hats, t-shirts, glassware, books, hot chocolate mugs, fondue sets, cookbooks and hampers.

The factory’s Chocolate Café serves breakfast and lunch and has a large range of cakes, pastries, and hot drinks and chocolate treats to choose from.

There is a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. The restaurant offers viewing windows which can allow people to have a sneak peek to the inside of the factory and watch chocolate being made. It can be fun to watch giant wheels greased with dark and white chocolate go spinning around!



If you sit outdoors, the dining deck overlooks a huge grassy area that is perfect for children to run around on while you sit back and have a coffee and a bit of cake to go with it.



If chocolate is not your thing you might like to visit the Margaret River Providore which is located on the same property and try some of their preserves, chutneys, olive oils or chocolate liqueurs.
