Cottesloe Beach

It just wouldn’t be a complete list of beaches without Cottesloe. This iconic Perth beach is great for families, with several playgrounds, grassed areas and a café and kiosk on site.

This family-friendly beach is a great spot for swimming and having a picnic barbeque. There are takeaway food options close by, plus a designated dog beach.
South of Perth
Port Coogee Beach, Coogee
Address: Maraboo Wharf, North Coogee.

With a shallow beach, water play and undercover picnic areas, Port Coogee Beach is a great place to take the kids. Plus, there is a Dome Café close by – perfect for parents needing coffee.

Point Walter, Bicton
Address: Honour Avenue, Bicton.

While technically located along the banks of the Swan River, Point Walter has several sandy spots on the shallow water, with plenty of shade, two playgrounds and a cafe and takeaway kiosk. Read the PMG review

Rockingham Foreshore has a heap of playgrounds for the kids to enjoy, plus gorgeous beaches and pram-friendly walking paths. There are toilets, barbeque facilities and a heap of cafes and restaurants close by.

Secret Harbour

Secret Harbour beach is home to the
Secret Harbour Surf Lifesaving Club , which runs the Nipper program, making it a great place for young kids to learn the ins and outs of surf lifesaving. There is also a surfing school and dog beach close by.

This natural pool is located within a protecting reef and is a popular spot for families with young children due to its calm waters. There is a ramp that runs down to the water, making it ideal for prams and wheelchairs.

Hillarys has a lovely shallow beach, a playground and lots of grassed areas to sit and enjoy a picnic. It is surrounded by a heap of cafes and places to eat.

Mullaloo Beach is positively family friendly, with a playground, surf-lifesaving club with a kiosk, plus a café and hotel across the road.

Scarborough Beach

Scarborough Beach is a fantastic destination if you have kids, as it boasts a playground, pram-friendly walking track, barbeques and cafes across the road for snacks and drinks.
