A fantastic way to enjoy time with the family, plus pick delicious grapes!

We always enjoy strawberry picking, so when we found out you could pick your own grapes in the Swan Valley, we thought we would check it out.

Swan Street Vineyard in Henley Brook is a lovely spot, located just off the tourist route of West Swan Road.



On arrival we were warmly welcomed to 'The Old Shed' where we received a basket and secateurs, along with our instructions on where to go for the best fruit. Taste testing is positively encouraged! There were red and white table grapes available, and even an option to pick some wine grapes if you fancy trying a bit of wine making at home! We decided against picking figs, after we were warned that the sap was very sticky and can bring some people out in a rash.



We wandered first just a few metres from The Old Shed to find some white table grapes. They were extremely easy to find as we peered into the leaves, with plenty of plump fruit still on the vines.



Master B (6) was quickly clipping bunches of grapes into his basket (and popping a few into his mouth!) Little Miss Sunshine (4) needed a bit of help, as the vines were a little above her head height. A short walk down the vineyard and we came across the red table grapes, which were also plentiful and easy to pick.

On returning to The Old Shed to weigh our bounty, we also taste tested some sweet white figs and bought some ready-picked from the fridge.

Pick your own grapes are available now (January) until the fruit runs out.

Swan Street Vineyard is open weekends and some weekdays - check Facebook for current opening times.

The Old Shed is also available to hire for functions, parties and weddings.
