It was not by choice as I am not naturally enthusiastic about anything remotely to do with fitness or exercise.
I started the classes out of necessity.
I had been in chronic pain from the moment I fell pregnant with my son, nearly six years earlier.
After getting pulled from pillar to post and having to advocate for myself from one specialist to the next, I finally stumbled across Southcare Physiotherapy and their life-saving Women’s Health Physiotherapists.

So, if they were so amazing why did I need to take a Pilates class?
Well, after doing a rather extended treatment program (because, I really was in a bad way), I got to the stage where my body no longer needed to be relieved from chronic pain but was ready to start strengthening again.
Stronger muscles are less likely to fall apart on you!
Enter Pilates class!
Now, I am not against the general Pilates session that might be running down at your local gym, but attending a Pilates session run by a physiotherapist has so many benefits.
Small Class Size
At Southcare Physiotherapy most Pilates class sizes are just three people, sometimes four.
Programs Designed For You
Each session is not a ‘one size fits all’ approach. It is likely you will not be doing the same exercise as the other people in your class. They will be giving you exercises to do that meet your needs only.
They diligently observe, ask questions and take notes about how you are progressing. If you have a strain or a pain during the week, they want to know about it so they can best support you in the Pilates session.
At Southcare Physiotherapy, you can opt for a five session pack or a ten session pack of classes to pay for up front. There are a range of class days and times to suit every walk of life. You can book a few weeks ahead (and change if plans come up) or you can book at week at a time. You can swap days or times whenever needed.
Depending on the type of your cover, you can get some rebate on Pilates classes led by physiotherapists.
