Need a nice, smooth surface to walk with the pram? Here's the best place North of Perth.

Following on from our Perth Mums Group article ‘Perth’s Best Pram Walks – South of the River’ , we’ve been out searching for the best prams walks North of Perth. Walking with your pram is a fantastic way for you and your baby or toddler to get some fresh air and exercise, but pushing a pram over bumpy, rough surfaces is not ideal. Here’s where you can find some of the best pram-friendly walks north of the Swan.

Riverside Drive, Perth
Access via Riverside Drive or Barrack Street, Perth

Riverside Drive stretches all the way from Elizabeth Quay at Barrack Street to the Causeway. It is flat and has plenty of coffee stops and a playground at Elizabeth Quay.

Swan River, Burswood
Accessible via Canfield Drive, Burswood or Riverside Drive, Perth

The part of the Swan River running through Burswood is a lovely spot to take your pram. You can park in the carpark along Camfield Drive and walk from there, or park at Riverside Drive and walk across and then under the Causeway. There is a playground along the way in case you have a toddler who needs to get out and have a play.

Herdsman Lake, Herdsman
Entry points include Lakeside Road and The Foreshore, Herdsman

Herdsman Lake is an easy pram walk around one of the prettiest spots in Perth. There is plenty of local wildlife to see, along with the Herdsman Wildlife Centre, which is accessible via the Selby Street entrance, or you can take a look at the Olive Seymour Boardwalk, which runs out over the water.

Bushland Nature Trail, Kings Park
Access via Forrest Drive, Kings Park

The Bushland Nature Trail in Kings Park is a 25 minutes loop walk that is suitable for parents pushing a pram. The walk offers a unique look at Western Australia's famous wildflowers, trees and birdlife in their natural environment and is accessible via Forrest Drive.

Star Swamp Bushland Reserve, City of Stirling
Groat Street, North Beach

Star Swamp Bushland has a heap of good walking trails that are suitable for a pram, including the Star Swamp Heritage Trail, which is an easy 1.4 km. You will see many species of local flora and fauna along the way, although the best time to view the local wildflowers is from August and October.

Yellagonga Regional Park
Access via corner of Wanneroo Road and Kingsway, Madeley

The Lake Goollelal Loop in the park’s south is great for getting out with the pram and has a heap of historical sites along the way, plus a playground and plenty of areas to take a break.

Lake Joondalup Circuit
Start at Neil Hawkins Park, Joondalup

The Lake Joondalup Circuit follows a route around Lake Joondalup in the park’s north and includes a children’s playgrounds, a boardwalk and observation tower.

Perth is simply brimming with pram-friendly walks. Always remember to wear quality shoes, dress you and baby appropriately and according to the weather, including a hat, and take a sun or rain cover for the pram and a rain jacket for yourself if needed, and apply plenty of sunscreen. A walk is the easiest way to get exercise, and you never know, maybe you'll find your own favourite pram friendly walk in Perth.
