Finding out you’re pregnant can be an exciting, yet daunting experience as you navigate the masses of information available. Thankfully, Perth Maternity is a new service available to Perth women, offering a personalised, holistic and fully bulked billed maternity experience throughout the duration of your pregnancy.
This community service has been launched to give pregnant women supportive antenatal care from the moment the pregnancy test turns positive. Each of their clinics at Cockburn, Cannington and Midland are located in an established medical practice and women will have access to endorsed midwives and a GP obstetrician based at the clinic.
Perth Maternity will work with you to develop your preferred model of antenatal and postnatal care and help you take the best path for yourself and baby. They will provide all the information you need and will fully support your choices in collaboration with the hospital or birth centre of your choosing.
Their extensive services include the following;
The path to parenthood can be rough, so Perth Maternity will provide care and support from early pregnancy until birth. This includes advice, referrals and providing the most appropriate information.
Perth Maternity have a wealth of knowledge at their fingertips and are ready to share this information from your very first appointment. This includes explaining realistic expectations of pregnancy and birth, useful coping strategies and how you can best prepare your body for birth. Education is an important part of every pregnancy, and each appointment is an opportunity to learn more about dietary requirements and nutrition during pregnancy, baby’s milestones, the birth process and what to expect after birth. Perth Maternity can also arrange for you to take part in formal pregnancy education classes.
Your midwife will monitor your baby using different methods, including measuring your belly, listening to baby’s heartbeat and by providing referrals to ultrasound services. Everything you need to know about these methods will be explained in detail for additional piece of mind.
Postnatal care, breastfeeding and home visits
Postnatal care starts from birth, and this can be the most daunting experience of all, especially for new mothers. Your midwife will be available during those first few weeks to help you learn how to feed and care for your baby and gain the confidence needed to care for your new little person. Breastfeeding, in particular, is a skill mums and babies may need help with, and Perth Maternity will provide reassurance, support and the best strategies to ensure you are prepared for this stage of life. Home visits are available if you feel you just need a bit of extra support beyond the hospital.
Pregnancy can be that little bit easier if you have good support and someone to answer all your questions. For more information about this fantastic Perth service, download an Info Pack or contact Perth Maternity today.
