Christmas is coming to Perth City this year in the form of a wonderful array of illuminations which make up the free Perth Christmas Lights Trail. We enjoyed the opening night of the new Perth Christmas Lights Trail with Master B (4 years) and Little Miss Sunshine (2 years.) They were completely mesmerised by the lights and the array of free street entertainers put on by the City of Perth as part of the launch.
The kids were captivated by the free street entertainers laid on for the launch of the Perth Christmas Lights Trail
Santa also made a couple of appearances, posing patiently for photos and #selfies and then delighting my little ones by ringing his bell from the first floor balcony of Myer which elicited gasps from the throngs of excited kids below.
The Perth Christmas Lights Trail includes 16 different festive light displays and extends from Elizabeth Quay, along St Georges Terrace to the Murray Street Mall. Thereís also three installations around Northbridge including the stunning Christmas Lights tunnel.
The Perth Crochet Club meets fortnightly to learn crochet, meet other Perth mums, and have a good chat. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, everyone is welcome to come along!
We stopped for a photocall at the traditional City Christmas tree in the Murray Street Mall, which is an impressive 13m tall and has a flashing LED ribbon wrapped around it! My little ones also thoroughly enjoyed exploring inside the Giant Bauble just outside Myer in the Murray Street Mall.
The giant bauble was really popular
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings (7-9pm) the kids can enjoy experimenting with light using Pixel Art sticks, just outside the entrance to Carillon City. The Shadow Play area which is projected onto the wall of the City Beach store in Forrest Place was also hugely popular. At any point along the trail, donít forget to look up and enjoy the traditional Christmas street decorations lighting up the night.
The annual Twilight Hawker Market is in Forrest Place every Friday until December 15 (4.30pm-9.30pm) so we combined our visit to the Perth Christmas Lights Trail with some delicious treats from the huge array of mobile food vendors. This time we went for Mexican tacos, Turkish Gozleme and a huge macaron stuffed with homemade ice cream for Master B! Thereís always live music here which the kids love to jig along to, and plenty of Christmas tunes on the playlists for the next few weeks!
The Perth City Christmas Lights Trail is on every night from 6pm until 25 December.
Turanga Music is the perfect way to engage your kids in music, whether it be for the first time or as a booster to their instrumental learning for aural and music theory. Running every Saturday throughout September at Bull Creek Community Centre.
