A fantastic list of playgrounds with flying foxes in the southern suburbs of Perth.

The flying fox has become a major drawcard for the modern playground, with so many – both big and small – now featuring this exciting piece of equipment. The flying fox, also known as a zipline, provides thrills for kids of all ages and in some playgrounds, of all abilities. Perth Mums Group recently featured a list of playgrounds with flying foxes north of Perth , and now we turn our attention to the south.

This small playground in Parkwood has a single flying fox, along with plenty of nature play, birds nest swing and rope play.

This fantastic playground also has a double flying fox with accessible seat, accessible swings, a treetop walk, mini in-ground trampolines and heaps of bits of play equipment. It is also fully fenced.

This magnificent new playground in the growing suburb of Wandi has a double flying fox with an accessible seat and harness. It also features plenty of nature play, racing slides, lots of rope play and accessible swings.

Robot Park in Piara Waters is truly original. It features a robot head cubby house, nature play, flying fox and a colourful play structure with a ‘hamster wheel’!

Dovedale Park, Harrisdale
Dovedale Street (between Gleeson Way and Hamelin Loop) Harrisdale

This small suburban park is wedged between Hamelin Loop and Gleeson Way in Harrisdale. Although it’s only a little park, it has a flying fox with a standard circular seat, a rope and timber climbing frame, log steps, a birds nest swing and a barbeque area.

Kwinana Adventure Park is another playground with a double flying fox and accessible seat. It is just one of the highlights of this largely accessible playground, which also has the amazing, wheelchair-friendly ‘Tree Walk’, accessible swings and lots of sensory play.

This fully fenced playground is relatively new and has a shipwreck-themed play structure as its centrepiece. It has a double flying fox with an accessible seat, mini in-ground trampolines, sand and water play and lots of original pieces of play equipment that are unique to this park!

Mills Park in Beckenham has a playground with a large focus on nature play. Along with timber and rope play equipment, it has a double flying fox with the traditional, circular-style seats.

Another fully fenced playground with a great play area for toddlers, Faulkner Park in Belmont features a huge volcano as its drawcard, which is why it is often known as ‘Volcano Park’. It has a flying fox, swings, sand play and log play.

This beautiful park in Baldivis has a man-made lake in the middle, so be sure to keep an eye on the kids. Chances are though they will be too busy playing on the single flying fox to notice. The park also has a play structure and climbing wall.
