Whiteman Park's evening guided tours of Woodland Reserve are back for another season, kicking off on September 1, 2023.
Woodland Reserve is a protected, predator-proof sanctuary that is providing a safe haven for the critically endangered woylie and other threatened native mammals. It also provides the visitors with the chance to see some of our local native wildlife when they are at their most active - dusk!
These guided tours, led by knowledgeable Whiteman Park volunteers, are an amazing way to connect with the local bushland and its inhabitants. You'll learn about the key habitats in the Reserve, what Whiteman Park is doing to conserve and protect these species and how you can help at home with one simple action.
Visitors will see woylies and quenda when they are at their most active, watching them feed at their feet thanks to special night-lighting.
Moderate fitness levels are recommended for these tours and be sure to dress for the weather given they take place outdoors in the Park's bushland.
There is also a special school holidays edition - Kids Woylie Walks
are held on Wednesdays during the school holidays and offer extra up-close-and-personal opportunities with native education animals.
Bookings are essential for these tours and can be made via their website at www.whitemanpark.com.au. Tours start at $15.00 pp.
