NIPT Research Study Survey

by Kim (follow)
Have you had a non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) in Australia during your pregnancy?

If so, researchers from the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute want to know your opinions regarding using NIPT to find out the sex of a baby, whether or not you did, and what your experiences were.

TAKE THE SURVEY >

What is NIPT?

NIPT is a blood test done during pregnancy that indicates the likelihood of various genetic conditions in the developing baby, such as Down syndrome. It is a prenatal genetic test. It can also identify the sex of the baby. NIPT is usually done at 10-12 weeks of pregnancy. The test costs around $350 - $500 and is not currently subsidised by the Australian government – there are no Medicare rebates.

You might know NIPT by other names such as percept, Harmony, Panorama, GeneSyte, NIFTY, Nest, or Generation.

What is the NIPT and non-medical sex determination study?

If you have had an NIPT test during your pregnancy, researchers from the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute would like to find out more about your experiences and views regarding finding out the sex of your baby for non-medical reasons through NIPT.

Your experiences and preferences regarding NIPT (whether or not you decided to find out the sex of your baby) will be valuable for researchers, and findings may contribute to future policy on the use of NIPT.

The survey should take approximately fifteen minutes and your responses are anonymous. Participation is entirely voluntary and you can stop the survey at any time.
