A fantastic, child-friendly cafe hidden away in Banjup's Calleya Estate.
If you’re anything like me, you like your coffee with a good dose of child friendliness. Mooba has added a new cafe to its existing ventures in Cockburn Central, Wembley and Perth and this one has a lot for parents to like.
The café is located in the Calleya estate in one of Perth’s newest suburbs, Treeby and can be reached via Armadale Road. It is located next to the Calleya estate sales office and does have limited opening hours to coincide largely with the office opening hours. Mooba is also just a short distance from Banjup’s seriously impressive
adventure playground , located on Cilantro Parkway but you don’t even have to leave the café to keep the kids entertained while you sip on a coffee.
For a small café, they have certainly made the most of the space. Firstly, there’s a giant sandpit, tripod swing and log steps. I had heard there were no toys in the sandpit but when we visited that problem had been well and truly rectified, with various toys now spread around the sandpit. There’s also a chalkboard tucked away in the corner, but just remember to bring some chalk.
There is a ramp for pram and wheelchair access, which leads from the top carpark down to the café and past the sales office. On the way down, you will find toilets and baby change facilities, although you will have to ask staff for a key.
The coffee was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced – for just 50c you can keep the kids occupied for a few minutes with their own little babycinno.
This new Mooba franchise doesn’t have a big range of food items, but they do have delightful muffins and slices. They also offer smoothies, milkshakes and cold pressed juice.
As mentioned, the opening hours are limited – the café is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, open all day Wednesday and then open until 2pm for the rest of the week. Shaded seating areas are somewhat limited, so bring a picnic blanket just in case all the seats out of the sun are taken.
Mooba is an excellent choice for child-friendly coffee in the Cockburn area. Sit back while the kids run around, get noisy and have a dig in the sand.
