I just love stumbling across cafes and restaurants that are not only welcoming for families and kids, but cater accordingly too. This week, my daughter and I had the pleasue of finding a great little place in Willagee called Little Olive Leaf Café.

.

While it looks tiny and a little unassuming from the outside, Little Olive Leaf Café is surprisingly family-friendly, with a beautiful shaded courtyard at the rear with a dedicated kids’ area and lots of toys for them to play with.

Inside the café.

It’s also conveniently located right across the road from a playground, Carawatha Park , making it twice as friendly for families and the kids. You can either have a seat inside or at the back, or grab a takeaway coffee and head to the park.

Inside the café there are a few tables and chairs, which were all taken on the day we visited, so we headed straight for the courtyard and found a seat. There are highchairs available, but my 18-month old daughter was in no way interested in sitting in a highchair when she had a chest full of toys at her disposal. There is a chalkboard on one side of the outdoor area, which is sure to keep creative kids amused while mum or dad enjoy a coffee. There are baby change facilities available.

There is natural shading throughout the outdoor section, with lots of greenery to keep things cool. I loved the little bench and table just for the kids – it is the perfect size for kids to sit at and play, while there are a myriad of different toys to play with. Directly behind the kids table is an adult size bench, which is so handy for parents who want to stay close.

Little Olive Leaf Cafe has a great kids area.

From the display cabinet, I chose a ham and cheese toasted sandwich to keep me going until lunchtime, and a coffee. They arrived quickly and I shared the sandwich with my daughter, even though she didn’t appreciate being put in the highchair.

Lots of toys to keep little ones amused.

Little Olive Leaf Café offers a selection of sandwiches, cakes, croissants, pies, salads and quiches. They offer hot and cold drinks, plus juices, kids juices, water and soft drinks. You can purchase breakfast items including wraps and rolls and a couple of egg-based dishes.

Mum, this table is just the right size for me!

I thoroughly enjoyed my coffee and sandwich – it was just perfect for a mid-morning snack and it was just the fuel I needed to get through a visit to the park across the road.

Yes please mummy.

Little Olive Leaf Café is the ideal place to take the kids if you need to chill out for a bit while they have a play. Serving great coffee and food, it’s just the place for families with busy kids.
