Kids love camping. They love the mud and the fresh air, the fact that they (probably) don’t have to have a shower before bed, and then they get to sleep on the floor. Not all parents love camping quite as much.

This is why the concept of ‘glamping’ or glamorous camping, is such a godsend for parents. Kids get all the best bits of fun in the Aussie bush while parents get free Wifi and a fridge for their beer and wine.

The luxury camp trailer

Just ten minutes out of Mandurah, lies a hidden Glamping gem, with two luxury ‘glamps’ on the 5 acre property of Natalie, Jarrod and their three gorgeous little sons. While you can hire the glamps separately, they would be perfect to hire for an extended family or two separate families who wish to holiday together.

The huge caravan

The air-conditioned 31 foot caravan sleeps five people, and has a separate bedroom (with TV), a dining area that converts to a single bed and a lounge area (with another TV) that converts to a double bed. There is also a well equipped kitchen and private bathroom with toilet and shower.

The bedroom in the caravan has a TV as well as free WiFi

The camp trailer may be smaller, but also sleeps five and is probably more comfortable with two enormous king sized beds. All the mattresses, doonas and sheets are top quality. The dining table converts to a fifth bed.

The trailer kitchen is much smaller, but still functional and the ‘ensuite’… well, don’t forget we did say ‘camping’ [but the kids will think it is awesome and adults will soon be able to use the incredible outdoor bathroom currently being built, complete with trees growing through the floor and a retractable roof].

The outdoor bathroom being built

The trailer is full of natural light, and the majority of the canvas walls zip open to allow you to sleep under the gum trees (fly screens protect you from bugs). Prepare to be woken to the glorious symphony of kookaburras.

Both the trailer and caravan have shaded outdoor area with tables and camp chairs perfect to enjoy dinner while gazing at the gum trees on the large bush property. There is also a campfire with kindling and wood provided, should you want to build a fire and toast some marshmallows.

The huge trampoline is just one of the great things kids can play on

The highlight of this glamping trip – for the kids anyway – is the fact that they can use all the great play equipment including a huge trampoline, swings, slides, a flying fox, sandpit and more. Natalie and her friendly family really make this a home away from home, helpful and welcoming, without ever encroaching on your privacy.

There are 100 free range chickens on the property

Another highlight for families is the 100 free-range chickens on the property, and if you are lucky you will be able to assist with the evening chicken feeding and see the eggs be collected.

The property is close to all the natural attractions of Mandurah, including some fabulous parks, a chocolate factory and year-round events and festivals. Click here to find out the top ten things to do with kids in Mandurah.

There are beautiful natural bushlands to explore

For families this is an easy, kid-friendly holiday. It’s cheaper than a hotel with lots more space and all the benefits of having natural bush and gardens to play in.

Inside the huge caravan

It’s also a great way to try out life in a caravan or trailer without having to make a large investment yourself.

All you need to bring is your food and clothes (wellies are recommended in the wetter months or if you want to feed the chooks) and a sense of adventure.
