Kaleidoscope is a family friendly festival, starting at 5.30pm each evening with a range of free performances, exhibitions and workshops plus parents can enjoy a night off cooking, and either bring a picnic or enjoy dinner from a range of food trucks.
Made famous by the Vivid Festival in Sydney, one of the things Kaleidoscope will be bringing to Perth are the ‘live buildings’ where intricate lighting is projected onto buildings.

Most of the festival will be in and around Central Park in the Joondalup City Centre, but there will be a special event at the ECU Campus, and if you have ever driven off the freeway and glimpsed the fascinating gothic spires of the ECU Chancellory, you will enjoy the special
‘Illuminating Genius’ show , a combination of light and music to form a ‘visual symphony of light’ with a special soundtrack composed by highly acclaimed composer Kevin Penkin.
Another special event that families will enjoy is the
Imaginarium VR ride ‘Mechatron’ - a six-seater virtual reality ‘ride’, which allows riders to experience a series of virtual reality adventures based around the festival’s ’City of the Future’ theme.

For families, there are
special workshops on offer including glow-in-the-dark face paint, upcycled shopping trolleys and growing light gardens. Come early and charge up your paint during the sunlight hours and then watch as everything starts glowing as it gets darker.
Pack a picnic or enjoy dinner from the exciting range of
food trucks and vendors including Fish Boss, Grilled to the Mac, Hot Buttered Corn, Zambrero and Churro Central while listening to a range of
musical shows and performances .
