A huge list of fabulous, family-friendly events during the July 2016 school holidays.



Fremantle Winter Festival
A huge event in Fremantle, there will be an open air skating rink (with hourly sessions you can book in advance), a two-storey tall toboggan ride, inflatable slide, Zorb balls and plenty of free activities.

When: July 1- 27th
Where: Fremantle Esplanade
Cost: entry is free, skating sessions start at $12 for 5-12 years to $22 for adults

Frostival Outdoor Ice Rink, Sorrento
Enjoy an outdoor skating rink at the Sorrento Quay Boardwalk in the Hillarys Marina. It caters well for families with early start times (8am) and skating aids and double blade skates for the little ones.

When: July 1- 17th
Where: Sorrento Quay Boardwalk, Hillarys
Cost: skating sessions start at $10 for the under 5s

Giant Snow Slide
Right in the middle of the City, there will be two enormous free snow slides during the school holidays with multiple sessions each day (25 minutes) and it is totally free. Bookings open June 27th.

When: Saturday 2nd July to Sunday 17th July
Where: Forrest Chase, Perth City
Cost: Free but you must book in advance

Circus Performance and Skills
Head to Success for the CirQuest Circus School Spectacular and free circus skills workshop. Watch stunning acrobatics, ripe climbing and trapeze and then learn how to juggle and hula and more.

When: Saturday 2nd July 3pm
Where: Cockburn Youth Services 25 Wentworth Parade, Success
Cost: Gold coin donation

Dinosaurs at the Quay
Special interactive performances by Perth Zoo staff will be on show at Elizabeth Quay, where the audience will get involved discovering dinosaurs. There are three half hour sessions daily with colouring-in and face painting between sessions.

When: Saturday 2nd July to Saturday 8th July, 10am, 11am and midday
Where: Elizabeth Quay, Western Promenade
Cost: Free

Community Mural at Elizabeth Quay
All are welcome to help artist Mel McVee paint an enormous 20m mural in a nautical and nature theme at Elizabeth Quay. Encourage your family to be a part of something that all of Perth will enjoy for years to come.

When: Saturday 2nd July 10am to 1pm
Where: Elizabeth Quay
Cost: Free

Kids Wonderland
Nine days of unlimited rides and fun, with three hours sessions and more rides, amusements and performances than ever. Suitable for children 2-12, adults can go on many of the rides as well. Not suitable for under 2s.

When: Saturday 2nd July to Sunday 10th July, three hour sessions
Where: Hertha Reserve, Cedric St, Stirling
Cost: kids $27.50, adults $15, under two FREE

School Holidays at Scitech
The school holiday program at Scitech is well respected, and although most of the sessions for the littlies have already sold out, there are a number of great programs for the older kids including dino-coding and aviation engineering.

When: various times and days during the July school holidays (4th-16th July)
Where: Scitech, City West Leederville
Cost: classes vary, but range between $12-25. Book now.

Adventure Caving for Kids at Yanchep
Guided adventure caving tours for kids (8-14 years) at the beautiful Yanchep caves. Kids will learn about how caves are made as they slide and crawl and explore, torches and helmets provided.
Yanchep also has a huge range of activities including historical buildings, walking trails and a koala colony.

When: Friday 8th July, 10.15am (8-10 years) and 12.45pm (10-14 years)
Where: Yanchep National Park
Cost: $32

Kids FunFest
Kids Funfest has more than 80 rides, events and attractions spread over a number of pavilions at the Claremont Showgrounds, including bouncy castles, show rides, petting zoo, circus workshop, sumo wrestling, sport inflatables and more.

When: Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th July, four hour sessions
Where: Claremont Showgrounds
Cost: kids $23.50, adults $17.50
