The relationship you build with your baby while breastfeeding is a special one, so a West Australian business has come up with a quirky memento that mothers can have made as a symbol of that connection: jewellery made out of breast milk.
Breastmilk Jewellery is an online jewellery store run by a mother of four who is also a passionate breastfeeding advocate.

If you're wondering how breast milk is made into a solid - according to Breastmilk Jewellery, it is mixed with resin as well as another ingredient to stop the milk from turning too yellow.
But how do you get your breast milk to the jewellery maker? Australia Post of course! Breastmilk Jewellery just recommends you mark your package as “liquid”.

So why breast milk?
I can see why some people might want a reminder of that special bond.
Those milk drunk eyes and content smiles you get after giving bub a feed can make you forget (for a second or two) how sleep deprived you are when you are a mum.
I can also see why others might want a memento as a celebration of triumph over something many of us struggle with.
For some - being able to work through the difficulties, whether it be a lack of milk, latching, mastitis, thrush or any of the other frustrating challenges, it makes breastfeeding even more of a big achievement.
