For so many people, Christmas is their favourite time of year filled with family, fun and festivities. But for many disadvantaged Western Australians, Christmas can be the most difficult time of the year – a time of feeling lonely or when the family budget is absolutely stretched to the limit. It’s a time of despair and desperation, but there are things you can do to help the less fortunate at Christmas. Here’s how you can help.

For over 40 years, Mission Australia has hosted Christmas Lunch in the Park in Perth on Christmas Day, in which disadvantaged Western Australians can come along and have a Christmas lunch. While the application process for
volunteers has now closed, you can join the waitlist if you are interested in volunteering. Alternatively, you can buy someone a Christmas lunch for just $30 or make a donation to the cause online by clicking

K-Mart Wishing Tree Appeal is back again for 2017. This long-running appeal was set up in 1988 as a way for disadvantaged children and families to receive a gift at Christmas time. It is run in conjunction with Mission Australia and the Salvation Army. To contribute, you can give a gift or money in store or make an online contribution.
