He has no friends at school :(

My son is in kindergarten. He is regularly coming home from school and telling me that he hasn't played with anyone at recess or lunch. He will tell me that he approaches children to play but they say they don't want to play with him and so he plays on his own. When I ask him why he says he doesn't know.

I've asked him if this makes him sad but he says no he's happy to play on his own.
I'm not sure if I should be pursuing this if it's not something that's bothering him? But it totally breaks my heart to hear him wanting to play and being told no by other kids. But if it's not a big deal to him, I don't want to make it a big deal by asking him about it all the time (if that makes sense)

Today at drop off I watched him approach a little boy who immediately and actively ran away from him. My little boy just looked at me and shrugged like "see what I mean?

Raised it with the teacher who says no issues that she is aware of among the class group.

He has siblings and knows how to play nicely. He usually seems to make friends easily enough randomly at the park when I take him.

Should I just let this go? It's honestly keeping me awake at night!
