There is a little slice of mum heaven tucked away in Thornlie. It is called Toddler Jam. (Because Toddler's Bring Your Tired Worn Out Mummy So You Can Have Fun, She Can Enjoy You And We Can Care For You Both, is slightly ridiculous). Imagine the acronym for that?
"Honey, I'm just taking little Billy down to TBYTWOM....." Yes, well anyway.
Toddler Jam is a place where you can take your little one (0 to five years) and, well, jam!
It is held in a church (don't fear) which provides so much space and room for the kids to burn off their energy.
Each term there is an age appropriate theme such as ocean animals, the circus or the farm. It is hard to describe exactly how amazing the set ups are. The whole stage is filled with props and decorations linked to the theme. The kids love coming and seeing it all.

Miss Mandy leads the sessions and she certainly knows how to get her toddler jam on.
A session runs for about 40 minutes and is filled with action songs, dancing songs, silly songs, songs, songs and more SONGS. During a session there is the opportunity to use ribbons, scarves, beanbags and balls. The kids (and don't forget the mums) get to use different instruments such as drums, bells, triangles and shakers. There is a segment where four bubble machines shower bubbles over everyone and at the end two gigantic parachutes come out for the kids (and you guessed it - mums!) to lay under.

During the jam session, there are volunteer Toddler Jam staff who help out where necessary. If you have your hands full with more than one child - don't worry. The lovely volunteer staff will come over and help you.
It sounds too good to be true, right? Well, there's more...When the jam session is over, everyone is welcome to move out to the back hall and outside of the building. In the back hall the most amazing spread of fruit as well as sweet and savoury treats is provided for you and your toddler, and all included in the session fee
You can place your order in for a hot drink and it will be brought out to by one of the friendly volunteers. While you enjoy a natter with your mum friends over coffee, the kids can play in the big sandpit and playground outside. although be sure to keep an eye on them. The volunteers are fabulous but they aren't responsible for the children.
At the end of each term, the kids are treated to a party. Sometimes it is a bouncy castle, sometimes it is a petting zoo.
Toddler Jam in Thornlie is a place where you can enjoy being with your child. There are no rosters to go on, no cutting up fruit and no clean up at the end! It provides a place for you to enjoy something with your child with minimal effort and lots of smiles and laughs.
