Drama is an amazing platform for children to develop the capacity to live and work in a world where confidence, teamwork and thinking outside the box are essential for success.
Gem Theatre Company offers a 16 week Drama and Dance program for young people, aged 8 to 12 years, culminating in a full-scale theatrical production with a musical theatre flavour.
At the helm of
Gem Theatre Company is multi award-winning playwright and community theatre maker, Yvette Wall, who also heads
Off the Wall Productions for adults. Yvette has a B Soc Science (Youth Work) and since 2000, has facilitated
‘story to performance’ workshops in schools and community groups, in Canberra and Perth. One of the great advantages of the program is that Yvette writes all the scripts, fractured fairytale style, to suit the particular group of students on board. And she directs.
Over the past few years, she has penned
Happily Ever Whatever,
Greenarella,
Once Upon a Hashtag and
Must Be Magic for young people.
WA Primary School Principal Lincoln Day said,
“Yvette’s ability to bring out the best in every child and provide them with an opportunity to shine is simply exceptional and it never fails to impress me”.
Joining Yvette is ultra-talented choreographer and dance teacher, Connie Wetherilt. Connie has been performing since she was very small and recently graduated from John Curtin College of the Arts where she studied in their Musical Theatre and Drama gifted and talented programs.
The Gem Theatre Company 16 week program commences on 13 February in Subiaco on Saturday mornings from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
There are only 30 places available and they will go fast. Enrol today!
