As Christmas approaches there will be a range of great family friendly – and free – activities across the city.
Subiaco has a number of events in the lead up to Christmas that are an easy family day out and could be combined with a picnic or play at Subiaco Common with its quirky equipment and streams, or the new Nature Play gardens at the Subiaco Arts Centre.
On Friday December 4th the Christmas lights will officially be turned on with the ‘Switch on Subi’ free event held in the grounds of the Subiaco Museum. Starting at 6.30pm and finishing at 8.30pm there will Christmas carols as well as ice creams and snow cones to buy. Bring your own picnic!
The next day (Saturday 5th December) there will be a Festive Fun Fair in the grounds of the Museum. This free event will be suitable for all members of the family and run between 1pm and 5pm. Running in conjunction with the new Rokeby Markets, the Fun fair will include rides and games, a climbing wall and petting zoo, face painting, photos with Santa, Christmas market stalls, craft activities and an inflatable slide and slide (bring the kids bathers) – and it’s all free.
Later that evening, there will be a free screening of eternally popular Home Alone in the grounds of Subiaco Primary with the Outdoor Christmas Cinema. No bookings are required and it is recommended you bring along a picnic dinner and some cushions and blankets. There will be popcorn, drinks and refreshments available to purchase on the night. You can even pre-order dinners from local restaurants and collect them on the evening. The event will run from 6.30pm-9.30pm.
On Wednesday 9th December, there will also be a family fun night at Bunnings Homebase. Bookings are required in advance, but the event is totally free and will include crafts, games, rides, a fabulous roast, zorb balls and more. Click here for more information about how to book.
