A unique, holistic counselling and therapy service for children and adolescents.
We all know that play is so important to a childís development, but did you know it can also be a form of therapy? Finding Balance Occupational Therapy and Play Therapy is a paediatric occupational therapy service working closely, and respectfully, with children and adolescents.
Finding Balance Occupational Therapy and Play Therapy Director Nina is a Developmental Occupational Therapist who works with children and adolescents with development and learning difficulties.
Do you want to learn how to knit? Or have recently started and would like to meet some new friends to share your creativity with, all while having a good chat? Perth Knitting Club has classes for you.
Nina is also a Mental Health Occupational Therapist with experience in working with children and adolescents †with mental, emotional, social and behavioural issues.
In addition to these qualifications, Nina is a qualified Play Therapist, a specialised counselling technique for children aged 2 to 10 years with mental, emotional, social and behaviour difficulties.
Play Therapy is to a child what talking therapy is to an adult. It is a well-researched, developmentally appropriate counselling technique in which carefully selected toys, arts and crafts are used to facilitate self-expression.
Nina can work with your child as an Occupational Therapist or as a Play Therapist, depending on the age of the child and the problems presented. Finding Balance Occupational Therapy and Play Therapy is a holistic service that includes assessment, treatment and the ongoing management of concerns.
The Perth Crochet Club meets weekly to learn crochet, meet other Perth mums, and have a good chat. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, everyone is welcome to come along!
Some of the concerns Nina can address include:
Gross and fine motor skills
Handwriting and creative expression
Emotional and mental health
Social skills and friendships
Attention and concentration
Executive and functioning skills
Behavioural difficulties affecting schools
Children can attend occupational therapy sessions at the new and well resourced Finding Balance Occupational Therapy and Play Therapy clinic in Nedlands, at their school, or in their own home, if required.
