‘For the Birds’ in Yallingup is an architect-designed family-friendly home set in over two hundred acres of woodlands and farmland with valley views to the ocean.
Originally built as a residence for a local Busselton family, For The Birds is now self-catering holiday accommodation perfect for families. Designed to maximise the views, the house is positioned to ensure that rooms all have clear outlooks down the valley or through to the Yelverton State Forrest behind the house.
The house has four bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus two separate living areas both with their own wood burning fire, so parents and kids (or two families) can each have their own space. There is a king bedroom, two queens and the fourth bedroom has bunks (double lower, single upper).
Guests are welcome to walk about the 260 acres, and children love the fact it is a working farm, stocked with curious cattle and sheep. The farm is also renowned for kangaroos and you can expect to see mobs of kangaroos every morning and evening as they feed in the paddocks in front of the house.
The house is fully equipped with a dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine, washing machine, family-sized Webber BBQ and safe. Perfect for the largest family, there are three digital televisions and a selection of books plus board games for both adults and children.
As parents to two young boys, the owners are well versed in local attractions and wineries who are family-friendly, such as Aravina with its amazing playground, Wills Doman who do a mean coffee, and the ever-popular Clancy’s Fish Bar and Cheeky Monkey Brewery.
In their detailed welcome book on arrival, they also provide recommendations for local secrets – the types of places only residents usually know about, plus everything a parent needs to know from local babysitters to the nearest hospital.
The Perth Mums Crochet Club meets fortnightly to learn crochet, meet other Perth mums, and have a good chat. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, everyone is welcome to come along!
For the Birds is a perfect base to explore the Dunsborough and Margaret River Region, with its beautiful beaches, natural bushlands, caves, galleries, restaurants and winning wineries including Cape Clairault and Wills Doman within five kilometres (some are so close, you can even get to them on foot!). A perfect holiday.
