Perth has plenty of Australia Day events happening for families!
This year, Australia Day falls on Saturday, 26 January, so there are events happening throughout the weekend of 26, 27 and 28 January. Some of these are family friendly, smoke-free and alcohol-free events and include lots of activities for the kids, food and fireworks in the evening.
Entertainment Zone, City of Perth Skyworks at Langley Park

Date: Saturday, 26 January from 3pm.
The City of Perth Skyworks will feature a family-friendly Entertainment Zone at Langley Park.
Just some of the attractions include Carnival Land, the Water Playground, Sports and Challenge Zone and Family Fun, all of which will fun from 3pm to 7:45pm.
There will also be Freestyle Motocross and BMX between 3:30pm and 7pm, and an International Food Market and Sausage Sizzle from 3pm to 8pm.
Fireworks will start at 8pm.

Australia Day Coogee Beach Festival

Date: Saturday, 26 January from 8am to midday
This daytime event will feature plenty to keep the kids entertained, including free water rides and amusements, slides and even mermaids on the beach!
There will also be basket weaving, facepainting, a petting zoo and earth art, plus plenty of live entertainment during the morning.
Enjoy multicultural food and a free sausage sizzle.
Churchill Park, Rockingham

A free, family-friendly, smoke-free and alcohol-free event that is part of the City of Rockingham’s Summer Series.
Meet some Australian animals, thanks to West Oz Wildlife.
Free activities for children, plus amusements rides and food vendors.
There will be performances by Chris Gibbs Band plus the 2018 Breakthrough Competition entrants, Akwaaba Drumming Circle and more.
Fireworks display at 8.30pm.
Australia Day in Armadale
Minnawarra and Memorial Parks, Armadale

Secure your picnic spot early at this family friendly, smoke and alcohol free event at Minnawarra Park or Memorial Park in Armadale.
In an annual Australian tradition, enjoy Australia Day with a jam-packed evening of festivities and fireworks in the Armadale City Centre.
The event will feature plenty of activities for all ages including carnival rides, a Water Fun Zone, food stalls and a full program of live music showcasing incredible local talent.
The highlight of the evening will be the fireworks at 8.30pm, which will be going off to a collection of fantastic all-Aussie tracks!
After the fireworks, one of Perth’s top tribute acts, Thomas Crane, will perform hits by Queen and Freddie Mercury.
Australia Day Citizenship Celebrations, Mandurah

Mandurah’s largest annual Citizenship ceremony is a smoke-free and alcohol-free event.
Enjoy breakfast between 7am and 9am thanks to the Lion Club of Mandurah and live music.
The ceremony will start at 8:30am. This is a morning event only and there are no fireworks in Mandurah on Australia Day.
7th Annual Australia Day Picnic, Nedlands Yacht Club

A free interactive day of sun, sand, and water. Non Members are welcome to join in on the fun.
The event will feature lawn games and a slip and slide to keep the kids entertained.
Have a picnic on the foreshore or enjoy catering from the Yacht Club galley, or some of Perth's best food trucks. The club bar will also be serving drinks.
One Day 2019, Fremantle
Bathers Beach from 8am and Esplanade Reserve at 2pm

Date: Sunday 27 January, with events starting from 8am at Bathers Beach
Sydney-based singer-songwriter Montaigne is the headline act and will be joined by soul singer Adrian Eagle.
The day will begin with a smoking ceremony at Bathers Beach at 8am, followed by traditional Aboriginal dance at 9am, along with didgeridoo playing and other family-friendly activities at the Kidogo Art House.
At 2pm the One Day concert will begin at Esplanade Reserve.
Aussie Play Day
Cathedral Square, Corner St Georges Terrace and Barrack Street, Perth

Date: Sunday, 27 January from 11:30am to 3:30pm
This free event is part of the Australia Day Long Weekend and will feature craft activities, live music and dance workshops.
Explore the community village and get creative in cubby house themed to nations from around the globe.
Children can also interact and learn from international dancers from Australia, Japan, India and New Zealand.
West Oz Wildlife at Belmont Forum
