A beautiful little park in the surrounds of Harrisdale

Perth is simply filled with fantastic little parks and playgrounds that you don’t have to drive too far to get to.

If you are lucky to live near one of these playgrounds, you can even walk there! Dovedale Park is a suburban playground wedged between the streets of Harrisdale that has a flying fox, making it a cool little place for local families.



My girls and I don’t live in the area, but we paid a visit to have a go on the flying fox. There are several other little parks in the area, so we had a few false alarms before finding it and parking up.



The playground has obviously been built with local families in mind, so parking is limited. There is a large grassed area and an undercover picnic area with public barbeques.



The highlight of this small park is the flying fox. Who doesn’t love a flying fox? It has a single seat so it is most suited for older children, but that never stops my little girl from having a go.



She whizzed back and forth with me holding onto her. The platform is a bit high, so toddlers will definitely need a bit of help getting up there, or you can help them onto the flying fox from further down the cable.



Another interesting aspect is the play structure. It has lots of rope elements to it and lots of places for kids to climb, including a couple of platforms linked with a rope bridge.



The playground makes great use of the natural surrounds, and has log steps and a log bridge for the little ones to balance on.

You will find Dovedale Park between Gleeson Way and Hamelin Loop, with parking located along Dovedale Street. It is a lovely little spot for a family picnic or for a morning or afternoon play on the flying fox.
