Some fantastic classes and courses for the budding little writer in your family.

Do you have a child who loves to make up and write stories? Perhaps they would like to take part in a creative writing course or class, just for children! There are classes in Perth that are available for ages 8 and over, including an online course run by the Australian Writers Centre. Read on for more information.

A young writers’ centre and outreach program based at Paper Bird Children’s Books & Arts in Fremantle.

The program helps young people, aged 8-16 years, to develop their creative voice through the sharing of ideas and stories.

Workshops include creative writing, storytelling, performance poetry, cartooning and comic illustration, writing lyrics, comedy and plays.

Conducts free creative writing workshops where children are empowered to think creatively and express themselves in words.

At each workshop, children are able to transform their ideas into stories and take them from draft into print.

Each workshop is conducted over five weeks and are offered to children in years 4 to 7.

In bringing the workshop to a school it is important we engage with children who will most benefit from our workshops, so principals and teachers are asked to select 12 suitable children from years 4 to 7 to take part.

There are 12 online modules designed for each child to do at their own pace.

A fun and imaginative way to learn the fundamental techniques of writing.

The courses uses a mix of video and written content to help kids find ideas, develop characters, setting and plot and edit the story.
