Tucked away on the road to Fremantle, the Coogee Beach Café is a little gem that is a great alternative to the weekend hustle and bustle of the port city for great food, coffee and space for the kids to play.
Situated within Coogee Beach in Cockburn,
the Coogee Beach Café caters for both diners and picnicking families alike with a café menu and takeaway options available.
Coffee and food with a playground.
The surrounding public space and beach are both great options for enjoying a family lunch, while the adjacent playground will provide kids with the chance to burn off those lunchtime Paddle Pops.
After discovering the park and cafe earlier in the year, I decided to check it out for breakfast this week with my daughter Olivia.
Enjoy indoor dining or enjoy the sunshine outside.
There is indoor and outdoor dining and an extensive
breakfast and lunch menu available every day. Breakfast is served until 11:30am.
I opted for poached eggs on toast and a coffee, and some fruit toast for Olivia. The eggs were cooked to perfection, the coffee hot and meal sizes generous. Olivia enjoyed the bit of fruit toast she managed to eat, but after a few bites decided she would try and eat the little packets of butter and jam instead. Tasty.
Mmmm coffee.
The café does have a small range of children’s breakfast items for under $10, including eggs, beans or bacon on toast, a cheese and ham toastie or pancakes.
Poached eggs on toast is just one item you'll find on an extensive menu.
You’ll find the usual breakfast suspects on the menu, including pancakes, muesli and cooked breakfasts, and there are
vegetarian and gluten free options available. They also sell a selection of ready-made sandwiches, cakes, muffins and biscuits and have a specials board. If you’re just after a coffee in the park, they offer takeaway hot drinks. There is a
takeaway kiosk on site for cold drinks and ice creams.
Fruit toast with condiments.
The takeaway menu has less options than the breakfast and lunch menus, and includes fish and chips and other fried bites and morsels. There are picnic tables throughout the park and the beach is only a short walk from the café. There is plenty of parking available.
The beach is a short walk from the cafe.
If you want to find great coffee and fun for the kids, look no further than Coogee Beach for a lovely family outing.
