If you’re looking for a great way to entertain the kids during the holidays, escape the heat of Perth’s summer, or need a quirky date night idea, then the Cockburn Ice Arena has you covered.

The Cockburn Ice Arena

Perth’s newest and largest ice arena is now open in Bibra Lake and has a heap of family activities, including public skating sessions, lesson and ice hockey matches. It also has the Frostbite Café and a restaurant, Cabin 401, in case you feel a bit peckish before or after your skate.

The skating rink is the largest in Perth.

Ice skating sessions are available for kids aged three and over, and you can hire a special little seal friend to help the littlies find their feet on the ice.

The skating rink itself is huge, with plenty of space to practise pirouettes, jumps and twirls, or to simply race around with your partner and work out who’s the better skater.

Hire a seal for a bit of extra support.

If you would prefer to watch the kids whizz around the ice, entry is free for spectators during daytime public sessions, while spectating during night sessions will attract a fee.

The Frostbite Cafe.

The arena boasts two eateries – Frostbite Café, from which spectators can take in all the action of the ice rink, and Cabin 401, which is open for dinner. Frostbite Café offers a range of cakes, snacks and lunch items, as well as coffee, ice creams and drinks. On the weekend they serve cooked breakfast.

Coffee and cake at the café.

If you don’t have your own ice skates, you can hire them from the arena, but be sure to wear a thick pair of socks, as it is mighty cold on the ice! Entry fees are $20 for adults – although there are sessions available for a discounted price – while fees for kids aged five to 17 are $18 and $12 for children aged three and four. They also hold birthday parties and welcome school groups.
