A fantastic family-friendly dining experience in Byford.

There are restaurants that call themselves child-friendly, and then there are those that go above and beyond the standard of child-friendliness.

Byford and Districts Country Club is one is the most child and family friendly dining experiences I have had in Perth.



This hidden gem in the leafy backstreets of Byford boasts a sound proof play room for the littlest members of the family, an outdoor games area for older kids, an outdoor playground and plenty of grasses areas for the kids to run amok.



Despite living in the surrounding suburbs for over a year, we’d only managed to visit once before. That time was a Sunday and the place was heaving with families. It was too busy for a quick fly in, fly out lunch with our toddler daughters so we said we would come back another time.



We finally got around to visiting for my husbands birthday. We booked for a table of 10 and as with our first visit, the place was packed with families and friends.



My girls ran off to the playroom as soon as they saw it. Before we could order, however, we had to sign up as new members, as the venue is a private club and you need to be a member or a guest of a member to buy anything.



My husband and I both joined up, as every member can bring in up to 5 guests. It cost $10 each to join but members enjoy 10% off prices, which makes it worth the $10.

After getting our memberships cards and ordering food and drinks at the bar (there’s no table service for ordering drinks or food), we checked in on the kids, who were having a great time in the Peppa Pig car and play kitchen in the play room under the watchful eye of nannie.



Our older niece and nephew us disappeared out into the outdoor play area, with my children joining them a few minutes later to explore. They loved the little playground, and before too long our food had arrived and it was time to drag them inside to eat.



We had ordered a variety of meals, including the Ribs and Wings Combo, a curry tasting plate, Kangaroo fillet, fish and chips and a couple of kids meals, including the favourite nuggets and chips, which actually came with a salad!



The [link https://bdcclub.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Food-Menu.pdf menu] has a great combination of dishes, with something for everyone. There are starters, share dishes, pasta, pub favourites, steaks, burgers and salads, plus options for the kids, vegetarians and gluten free diners.



The favourite dish of the night was the Ribs and Wings Combo, which was great value and thoroughly enjoyable. Everyone on our table was satisfied with our meals and then the lovely staff organised my husband’s birthday cake for us.



We sang happy birthday, stuffed ourselves with cake and then it was time to get the kids home.

Overall we were very impressed with the venue, the child-friendly facilities and the food. I would certainly recommended to those with kids and those without and we will be back in the near future!
