Champs at Play is located in the Champion Lakes Christian Church Building. It has a large cafe and rest area, a separate room for school holiday activities and a designated baby area, plus a toddler area.
My toddler daughter had a lot of fun whizzing around the above-ground bike track, which is located within the multi level play structure. Itís fully fenced off and gives the kids views of the play centre as they zoom around.
In the play structure, there are plenty of padded surfaces, rope ladders to climb, tunnels and steps, plus a ball pit and slides. There are video games to play, but they do look a little bit outdated and are only for older kids aged 8 and over.
The toddler area needs some work, but a sign on the wall did note that maintenance would be taking place soon. This area has a ball pit, padded surfaces, Little Tikes style housing and small slide. If you canít find your children, be sure to check the trampoline or bouncy castle.
Having the support and friendship of other mums who are living the same experience is important for the well-being of every mum. Here are 7 reasons to join a real-world mums group:
The baby area is fully fenced off, so the babies not only canít escape, but the bigger kids canít get in. There are endless toys to play with, so donít worry about your little one getting bored.
The cafe serves a range of hot and cold drinks, plus small meals and snacks. There are cakes, muffins and slices to choose from, or you can pick from the menu, which also has a selection of kidsí meals.
There are plenty of places to sit, although the seats closest to the play structure get snapped up first (donít they always?) There is also lots of space to park the pram.
The opening hours are quite limited, with the centre open 9am to 2pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and 9am to 4pm on Saturdays. It is closed form Sunday to Tuesday. Entry fees are $1 for children aged up to 12 months, $7.50 on weekdays for children aged between 1 and 4, and $9 on Saturdays and school holidays. For children aged 5 to 12 years, the cost is $9 on weekdays and $11 on Saturdays and public holidays.
Like the majority of play centres, Champs at Play can host a birthday party in one of their themed party rooms. Party packages include a dedicated host and unlimited play.
Champs at Play is a great little play centre, with preschoolers and young school children probably getting the most fun out of their time there. If youíd like to read about some other play centres around Perth, read on here.
