There are a lot of coupon sites these days – online sites where deals are sold in bulk to customers in search of discounts.
What you may not know is that one of them – Bubbler Deals – was set up by a Perth mother of three, and while its focus is on finding great deals for families, it also donates a portion of all sales back to Perth primary schools and playgroups.
Bubbler also takes good care of Mums with some special deals for Mums such as pamper packs, high teas and massage sessions.
The idea came to founder Katrina McCarter in January 2012 when she was looking for an easier way to support her children’s school in Wembley. So she developed the Bubbler Deals 5% Donation program which donates 5% of the purchase price of your deal to a primary school of your choosing.
As she says: it’s easier than organising a cake stall.
Bubbler Deals expanded beyond Perth and went national in 2015. Their point of difference – apart from the fundraising aspect - is that each deal is offered for a week, many deals are directed at families (and they are not all for photo books like some other sites) and in 2013, Bubbler Deals was the winner of a DFK Smart Start Up Award.
Setting up your primary school, playgroup or kindy as a beneficiary is easy – although it is possible that your school may already be there, quietly earning a passive income you don’t know about.
Deals have included 50% off Chipmunks Playcentres, 50% of back to school packs and a kids movie and popcorn package. They also have travel deals, although these are exempt from the 5% donation program.
Donations are not compulsory, or you can choose for your 5% donation to go to Playgroup WA. When the total money accrued reaches $50, donations are paid out in April and October every year to the school P&C. When the donation accrual is less than $50, it remains in an account and is rolled over into the next payment round. So far, Bubbler has donated over $11,000 to Playgroup WA who then used the money to buy craft packs for every Playgroup session in WA.

This production of The Jungle Book relies strongly on physical theatre, from a young ensemble, and will incorporate puppetry, poetry, and animation, creating an eclectic style of theatre true to itself.
