Shopping with the kids can be HARD WORK, but Perth has a whole heap of great shopping centres to take the kids to.

Below are some of the best shopping centres in Perth to take kids – they may have indoor or outdoor play areas, family-friendly cafes or food courts, great family rooms, easy parking or just a great range of shops.

Outdoor play area at Floreat Forum


Lakeside Joondalup
Grand Boulevard, Joondalup

Lakeside Joondalup is Perth’s largest shopping destination, and the only major shopping centre accessible by train. It has Perth’s only H&M, plus Myer, Target, Kmart, Big W, Coles, Woolworths, Supa IGA and Aldi. It also has over 300 specialty retailers, a cinema, two food courts, free WiFi and a number of outdoor restaurants.

The two family rooms include private feeding areas, change tables, child-friendly toilets and microwaves. There is Playzone, a small fenced indoor play area located on the top floor suitable for toddlers.

The Square, Mirrabooka

The Square has Big W, Coles, Kmart, Woolworths and Aldi plus over 100 speciality stores. They offer a free Kids Club program with free gifts and meals on their birthday, school holiday programs and monthly Kids Club specials.

6 Sunray Drive, Innaloo

While technically not a shopping centre, Ikea is a popular destination for parents. Ikea has an enormous undercover parking area, kid-sized trolleys, a huge restaurant with reasonably priced kids meals (and TV and play area). It also has Smaland, a free, supervised play area where children (toilet-trained and aged between 3-8 years) can spend up to an hour while parents shop. Smaland has a movie theatre, ball-pit, climbing walls plus plenty more.

Coventry Village
243-253 Walter Road, Morley

While Coventry Village is more of a marketplace than a shopping centre, is has probably the largest free indoor play area in Perth. It has over 150 shops, many of them fresh produce and other foods, and is very close to Morley Galleria. The children’s playground is enormous and has slides, trampolines, climbing frames and more. It is designed for children under 6 only and has strict conditions and opening times, but it is free and kids love it.

Karrinyup Shopping Centre
Karrinyup Road, Karrinyup

Karrinyup Shopping Centre has Myer, David Jones, Big W, Woolworths plus 170 speciality stores. There is a public library onsite plus the Kanga Kids Club , free to join and offering kids a number of free gifts, activities and school holiday entertainment. Karrinyup offers a number of parent rooms, free stroller and kiddy-car hire, plus free Wifi and an outdoor gated play area.

Ocean Keys
36 Ocean Keys Boulevard, Clarkson

Oceans Keys has Kmart, Coles, Target and Woolowrth plus 120 speciality stores. The Keys Kids Club is a free club for children that has monthly events and special offers. They offer a free monthly FIFO Family Meet-ups on the first Wednesday of the month ( register here for the next one) as well as weekly swap marts every weekend ( click here for more information).

“Ocean keys has everything I need and only 10 mins drive from home. There is a little play area that's uber cute and right across the road from the library where I take Miss 4 to Storytime! The Whale & Ale Tavern which is very affordable for a night out for dinner for the whole family ($100) and also close to the Clarkson train station, as well as Atlantis Play Centre which often has $5 scoopons online.” PMG Member

Innaloo Shopping Centre
Corner of Scarborough Beach Road and Ellen Stirling Boulevard, Innaloo

Innaloo Shops has Kmart, Target, Coles, Woolowrths plus over 170 speciality stores. It is near to Ikea and across the road from Spotlight and ToysRUs. It offers free WiFi, has a large food court and has a small indoor play area near Target call Playworld , suitable for toddlers and pre-schoolers.

Garden City
125 Riseley St, Booragoon

Garden City has Coles, David Jones, Kmart, Myer and Wooloworths and over 200 speciality stores including a cinema complex and a public library. It offers free Wifi as well as free stroller hire from the Centre Management. You can see a Justice of the Peace every weekday between 10am-1pm at the Community Information Centre (near Australia Post). The centre is due for a major redevelopment in 2017 which will take three years to complete.

“The Mandarin Wok in the food court is awesome - hubby, 3yo and I (and the 10mo now) share a $17 huge plate (noodles and honey chicken are favourites, and they'll give you small polystyrene plates for the kids to have a share of your plate for nothing. The parents’ room in the Coles wing is great.” PMG Member.

Carousel, Cannington
1382 Albany Highway, Cannington

Carousel is a major southern centre with Coles, Kmart, Myer, Target, Woolworths and over 280 speciality stores, a large cinema complex and a number of major restaurants. Parking can be difficult especially during peak times. They have just opened a Playworld play area on Level 1, and have a number of family rooms throughout the centre.

Halls Head Central

Halls Head Central in Mandurah has just undergone an extensive renovation and extension, and while it only has a Coles, Kmart and Aldi, there are also 50 specialty stores. The biggest drawcard is the new al fresco restaurant area with a number of family-friendly restaurants and the new enclosed ‘Kids Precinct’ play area which caters for both young and older children with a variety of interesting play options.


Floreat Forum
1 Howtree Place, Floreat

Floreat Forum is a great smaller shopping centre with Coles and Woolworths, and around 70 speciality stores. It is on the same block as the Cambridge Public Library (which offers a Justice of the Peace service Fridays between 11am and 1pm) and it has a reasonably sized shaded outdoor play area that is popular with children and parents (it is surrounded by cafes and restaurants).

Children under 12 can join the free Kids Club with birthday gifts and exclusive offers and events and they just opened an new #more -2637">interactive Kids Hub where kids can play and do dress-ups (parents must stay and supervise).

“Floreat Forum is my local, and it is impossible to visit with my four year old without a trip to the bakery and a visit to the playground. There is always someone there for her to play with, as well as all the free services offered by the library next door.” PMG Member
