Something that we Mums don’t tend to do very well is look after ourselves.

Before I had my sons, I had a strict beauty regime, which ended up getting put on the backburner. Two years later, and I still haven’t gotten back on track in that department.

According to Amanda Redwood, of Perth skin rejuvenation company Rejuvenesce, it is possible to have it all.

Perth Mums Group spoke to Amanda about how the industry has changed over the years and what her top beauty secret is.

Being in the beauty game for as long as Amanda has means she has witnessed firsthand how the internet has influenced a generation.

‘Since internet use has become so widespread, the variety of treatments and products available has grown massively,' she says. This means that instead of travelling overseas to trade fairs, there is now well researched information readily available at the click of a button. ‘In addition, more consumers are becoming influenced by the celebrity culture from around the world that they read about online.’

Another major change in this industry is that people are more accepting of cosmetic treatments than ever before. Women often used to attend appointments inconspicuously, with some even disguising themselves when they went to the clinic.

When Amanda first came to Australia from the UK, she brought with her expertise in the revolutionary CACI Non-Surgical Facelift, giving women an easy and pain-free alternative to beautiful skin without surgery.

20 years on and there are many more choices available. ‘I think it’s great that people now have so much more choice – it used to be between traditional salon facials or cosmetic surgery. Now there are so many other options to explore in between.’

Now, what I was desperate to know, is what Amanda’s number one beauty secret was, and what could I do as a time-poor mum for my skin?

The big secret, she says, an amazing product that reduces the signs of ageing, is sunscreen of course. ‘Nothing is more damaging to the skin than sun exposure so always apply sun cream or use a foundation that contains it.’

For us busy mums, she recommends a simple skincare routine that will easily fit into our lifestyles.

The essentials, such as cleansing and applying a cream don’t take long at all. She also recommends to always make sure you remove your makeup before bed, something I personally often forget to do.

And what about those of us who have ignored looking after our skin all this time? ‘It’s definitely not too late! I would recommend starting simply without too many products or you run the risk of getting overwhelmed and not sticking to the regimen. And again, don’t forget the sunscreen!’

Amanda works for Rejuvenesce which offers a range of rejuvenation and anti-ageing products.

They offer parties and careers in direct sales. For more information or to contact Rejuvenesce, head to www.rejuvenesce.com.au
