Baby #4, the first trimester screening came back with nearly the highest ratio of 1:7 for downs syndrome or another chromosome defect. I have just turned 37 and with my other the ratio was 1:500 or higher from memory. I am booked in for a CVS (cells to be drawn from placenta) next week but yesterday I seen the sonographer, specialist and nurse who booked me in. There was not much positive talk about the outcome as in that everything will be fine it was more a case of identifying what will be wrong and she said Down's syndrome was actually the mildest of chromosome defects. I'm currently 12&2 wks so booked in 9days for the procedure which I've today requested a cancellation as anxiety is high and the wait is horrible. We made the decision on wanting to know what is wrong and what we will do so please don't jump on with personal opinions of babies with chromosome defects etc. I'm asking has anyone had this type of result and had an outcome where all was fine? When the scanned the spine fluid yesterday I read 1.6-1.9mm he had mention closer to 5mm was a high indication so it must have been something in the blood test. I was in a high risk hospital so these are well trained professionals and specialists.
