  • sorry for the long post*
  • Mums who have been medicated for PND. I was put in antidepressants at my 6 week pp check but even from that day I have not felt like I need them at all. When I do take them I get incredibly tired and it's actually affecting my ability to take proper care of my babies because I'm so exhausted (it's not newborn sleep deprivation because I forgot to take the meds for one night and felt fine and then took them the next night and back to exhaustion). I want to come off the meds ASAP but don't want to do it without discussing with a doctor first. I am unable to get in to see my OB (the one who prescribed the meds) but am booked in with him to get the mirena put in next week. So my question is: can I go see a regular GP in regards to antidepressant medication or do I HAVE to see the prescribing doctor?

  • please note it is only post natal depression I have been diagnosed with. I have never been diagnosed with depression in any other instance and I was perfectly willing to admit there was a problem before but I feel so much better since (haven't been on the meds long enough for positive effects to kick in). So it's not me being stubborn and thinking I know better. I genuinely just feel like I can be a better mother if I'm not on them
