Below are some of the best free activities for kids in Perth, with contributions and suggestions by Perth Mums group members. Obviously the list doesn't include all the great free activities in Perth, but this is a great place to start. Remember to always do your own research and make sure the service meets your personal needs.

School Holiday Programs

The Art Gallery of Western Australia, Perth

Address: Perth Cultural Centre, Perth.

The Art Gallery of WA becomes a school holiday haven for kids with their ‘I Spy’ program, while in the second half of the holidays Lego lovers can build away.

City of Stirling Summer Reading Club and other events

Along with the Summer Reading Club, the City of Stirling libraries have a heap of free activities and events happening throughout the holidays, including lots of superhero themed events, craft workshops and a movie night.

Cockburn libraries school holiday events

There are a bucket load of school holiday activities happening at each of Cockburn’s three libraries, including craft activities, Summer Reading Club and games.

Cockburn Wetland Centre School Holiday Program

The Cockburn Wetland Centre is dedicated to the conversation and restoration of wetlands, plus environmental education, training and youth services. They offer lots of free school holiday activities for kids aged five to 12, including Reptile Awareness and music workshops. They also run education programs during the school term.

Discovery Zone – State Library Exhibit
Date: Now until 31st January 2017 during library hours.

Drive In Cinema, Perth Library
Address: 573 Hay Street, Perth.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, Saturday 10am to 4pm, Sunday 12pm to 4pm.

On Friday 13th January and Friday, 20th January from 2pm to 4pm, the kids can build and decorate their own car for the drive in cinema!

Shoalwater Islands Marine Park

This free marine park offers so many fun activities for the whole family, including boating, birdwatching, fishing, snorkelling and swimming and is home to lots of different birds and marine life.

Wanneroo Regional Museum

Take a step back in time and learn all about Wanneroo’s history through exhibits and interactive displays. Suitable for all ages.

DFES Education and Heritage Centre
Address: Corner of Murray and Irwin Streets, Perth.

The Western Australian Museum Shipwreck Galleries

The Western Australian Museum Shipwreck Galleries is home to a huge array of the state’s shipping and maritime artefacts.

Lancelin

Just one hour north of Perth, Lancelin offers lots of off-roading and sand boarding fun around the sand dunes, plus plenty of places to take a dip.

Serpentine Falls, Serpentine

Cultural Centre Playspace, Perth

While entry to the centre is not free, at a measly $1 for kids and $2 for adults, it’s practically free and your donation will go towards helping the centre function on a day to day basis.
