Kwinana Adventure Park will open to the public on Sunday, 16th October at 11am. Get in early for your chance to pick up some awesome freebies!

My daughter Olivia might only be 16 months old, but she did not want to leave the brand new, much-anticipated Kwinana Adventure Park – there was just way too much fun to be had.

This state of the art, multi-faceted playground is a truly impressive space for kids of all ages, and you will find yourself having to drag them back to the car. With superb play areas, a water park and stunning attention to detail, Kwinana Adventure Playground has been designed by Josh Byrnes and Associates to be as family friendly as possible. Every effort has been made to preserve the gorgeous natural bush surrounds, integrate nature and play and maximize accessibility for wheelchairs and gophers.

With 11,000 square metres of play space, I suspect we will have to make several visits to the Kwinana Adventure Park to fully appreciate all that the park has to offer. The centerpiece of this magnificent playground is the Tree Maze, an elevated play structure that is accessible by wheelchair from start to finish, has sensory elements and a ‘clatter bridge’, which wobbles from side to side as you step over it. There are giant slides to ride, nets to climb through, rope ladders and musical play.

Next there is the Action Play area, where kids of all abilities (including big kids like mum and dad) can enjoy the fully inclusive, double flying fox, swings, ‘birds nest swing’ and a climbing frame.

Even the flying fox has been designed to maximize accessibility, with two seats depending on ability.

Kids who love to dig and use child-sized mechanical equipment will love the Sand Play area for its workable sand diggers, gorgeous play deck with double slide, water pumps, sand conveyor belt and sand play tables. After all that playing in the sand, there is only one place to head to next – the Splash Pad.

The Splash Pad is one of the most impressive features of the playground. With interactive spouts, showers, jets and sprays, it’s the perfect area to cool down on a hot day or wash away the sand. Just watch out for the pelican’s beak, which is known to drop large amounts of water on unsuspecting children (even better if it lands on the parents.)

The Splash Pad is a great spot for summer water play.

The smallest members of the family will love the Junior Play area – there is a cup spinner, cubbies, a double rocker and a swing set and musical play so the kids can play beautiful tunes to their hearts content. This area is also close to the accessible toilets and change facilities. One of the toilets houses an adult change table and hoist.

The park has been designed to be as accessible as possible (pic: City of Kwinana).

Throughout the park are picnic areas and picnic tables, four barbeque spots, bins, drinking fountains and walking paths. There’s also CCTV cameras in operation, giving you piece of mind while the kids play. Another impressive feature is the undercover kitchen, which has a fridge, microwave, tables and can be hired for functions for a small price.

The kitchen can be hired for private functions.

This free, public playground is located on Walgreen Crescent in Calista. The only disappointment is when it comes to home time – the kids just won’t want to leave this spectacular playground hidden among the trees.
