A proper coffee shop inside a play centre. Itís genius - Iím just surprised it took this long.

Iím inside Perthís newest play centre, Crocís in Jandakot. The Ďproper coffeeí comes from Muffin Break which is literally inside its doors, the first thing you see. Thatís some good marketing right there.

Iíve come all the way from north of the river for this and I wasnít disappointed. You see, Iím addicted to caffeine, a lot of mums are. It gets us through the good, the bad and the super ugly of parenting. So if I can sip on some of the good oil while watching my offspring burn off surplus energy, then Iím happy.

Muffin Break doesnít just deliver the goods on coffee, its signature muffins are also available, and they do a good job.

The seating area is also very nice and extends all the way throughout the centre. It is relaxing and chic, with the baby/toddler area right next to the chairs so little ones can play while mum sits and watches.

For the kids, there is a whole range of equipment from a huge, inflatable, bouncy chamber to a bike track with tricycles that goes all the way around the play facility.

There are big speed slides for the big kid with big ambition, tunnels, multi-level climbing frames, huge jumping pillow and a big, bobbly shark head.

For the toddlers thereís a separate area with a wicked slide that looks like itís coated in ice, and giant lamps with 'lava' flowing through them.

But the cherry on top of this paradise for kids is whatís beyond the giant shark at the back of the centre.

Itís like something from a Pixar movie, or something youíd see on Despicable Me. A ball battle zone, inside a netted room with dozens and dozens of colored foam balls.

Look up and thereís contraptions for firing them into the universe, and at the push of a button you can shoot the balls from a gun, blow them up a chute, or tip them from a giant bucket.

Itís where the kids played the longest, and Mums can even get in on the act. Itís that good.

After that, lunch was in order. Crocs offer $8 meals for kids, including chips and nuggets, mini franks, pies, pizza and sausage rolls, plus, something called a Wedges Share Platter for $30 for people who really love their fries! And donít forget that blessed coffee.

Crocs is suitable for all ages. Parking is easy and at the door, although could be problematic during peak times like school holidays.

There are clean toilets with baby change facilities and a number of themed rooms for private parties which require pre-booking.

It is loud, like all good play centres, but if you've got kids you'd be used to the volume on maximum already.

Weekdays during February costs $5 entry if youíre a member and you can join with your Muffin Break card or at reception when you go in.
